I am an assistant professor of Park and Recreation Management at the State University of New York, College at Brockport. I conduct research, and teach undergraduate courses within our core curriculum. My professional mission in the broad field of parks and recreation is to ensure that high-quality parks and recreational experiences are available in an equitable fashion, now and for future generations. I operationalize this mission through the facilitation of high quality educational experiences for students, and the production of impactful research that benefits a variety of stakeholders.

I was born in Washington D.C., and grew up in Virginia. I earned my BS in Health Promotion from American University in Washington D.C., where I was a Division I wrestler. I received my MS in Recreation Management from the University of New Hampshire, and my Ph.D. in Recreation, Park and Tourism Management from Penn State. In between, I worked in the recreation industry for several years as a ropes course facilitator, personal trainer, group exercise instructor, and worksite wellness coordinator.
